Jaguar
Jaguars live on the continents of South and Central America, even slightly extending their range into the southern United States. There are nine subspecies of jaguar, but population censuses are inconclusive about the conservation status of each one.Habitat desctruction and fragmentation and loss of prey are the primary reasons for the decline in jaguar populations.Jaguars are easily confused with leopards but they are larger and more stocky in build, and are in fact the third largest cat in the world behind the tiger and the lion. They also have small spots within the rosettes on their coats, while leopards have plain rosettes.Jaguar
